Policies & Services
    Unwanted, abandoned and surrendered birds are accepted into LBH&R and in return, may be adopted to       qualified applicants. This does not mean that ALL birds here are adoptable or 'up' for adoption

1.   We except birds on an 'emergency first' basis.                        Emergencies are determined at the sole descretion of          the president and vice president.  We appreciate any            known information and advice concerning a                            prospective intake and/or adoption

2.   People wanting to surrender birds maybe placed on a         waiting list pending space availability or, foster care                                              availability

3.   LBH&R does not breed birds placed with us and we do                 not place birds into breeding situations under                         normal circumstances

4.   We do not adopt to children

5.   We do not adopt birds for the sole purpose of being             companions to other birds

6.   As a general rule, we will not place a Cockatoo,Macaw              or other noisy bird in an apartment or condo

7.   Birds must remain in 100% smoke free quarters

8.   Birds are to remain in the home and be treated as a                                             family member

9.   Adopted birds may NOT be sold, given away or                      used for any type of monetary purpose

10. All potential adopters will recieve a home visit from a             LBH&R representative prior to being approved for any                                           adoption

11.  APPROVED applications will be placed on a waiting              list if a bird is not currently in our system that would                     be a good match for the approved adopter

12.  Adopters are required to pay an adoption fee and may             need to reimburse LBH&R for vet fees for their bird

13.  LBH&R will make every attempt to see that a bird can           remain in it's current home with counseling and                     behavior modification IF this is in best interest of the                                                        bird
