The price of a cup of coffee each week will to the trick..

As most of you know, domestic and exotic birds are in a crisis situation. Bird rescues are sadly closing their doors for various reasons. One obvious reason is the fact that they are overwhelmed and under funded.

Grant monies are far and few between if at all andpublic participation is at an all time low. We realize this is not due to a lack of caring, rather, an indication of the financial struggles we all presently face. I personally know of two bird rescues here in Connecticut that have been forced to close their much needed doors!

As co-owner and president of Lazicki's Bird House & Rescue, Inc., I would like to share with you our situation as well as a very obtainable solution.

First, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2006. I had surgery, a partial mastectomy, in January. My first thought upon diagnosis was, "What will happen to 150 exotic birds?" The good news is that my prognosis is excellent and I will survive and recover completely, the question is, will this rescue?

The sad fact is that I am unable to do public appearances or work for much needed funding. This walk through chemo and other treatments will be for a while.

Here is where you and others like you can help. With times being as difficult as they are, I am not asking for donations. (you read that correctly!)

I am starting a new 'club' called Pass-The-Buck. The concept is simple and fun. For the price of a cup of coffee each week, YOU can save this rescue!

Basically, you would put a one dollar bill into an addressed envelope, which we send to you, and pop it into the mail every pay day. It doesn't sound like much however, your weekly dollar combined with for example, 499 others, will keep this rescue in operation. We will send out a receipt at the end of each year and your 'club' participation is tax deductable. Will you please join today? I will recover but this rescue is in your hands. Steve and I have given our all.. I will also ask that you pass this information along.

Lazicki's Bird House & Rescue, Inc is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit and your cup of coffee sacrifice is tax deductible at the end of the year.. The rescue (our temporary home) will even supply the addressed envelopes. You will also get a picture of one of my roommates to hold close to your heart.
